so right now i am a utility player have been for the last 5 years but have been in some sports more then others. Last year during summer ball i started at third then became the starting catcher, i played some third in college but alot more outfield. I used to play second base alot when i was younger then became a catcher/pitcher and have bounced around and found more of a home behind the dish. But i am transfering colleges and dont feel like being a utility player i feel like that took away from me getting playing time because i wasnt focusing on one spot so the coaches didnt get a chance to really see what i could do at a certain spot.
I have the arm to play third, i have the pop time and ability to block the ball and throw guys out behind the plate. i could play short but need more practice at it. i can play second easy i played there for years and love rolling double plays, i have played everywhere in the outfield i have the arm to play the outfield and the speed.
i'll admit that at any spot there are things i need to work on wheater its my foot work hands reading a ball crow hops i do have things i need to improve on but being a utility player its hard to try and improve in every aspect when you dont know where your coach is going to put you.
Here are some of my Numbers like height and stuff
Height: 5'8
weight: 135-140
40 time: 4.7
60: 5.9 est.
ive got a short compact build so i mean a life behind the dish prob not realistic. but i could probably make a living at third, but second base is prob where alot of schools would put me. i could become a outfielder because of my speed and arm,
But what do you guys think where should i try and make my living at or do i stay as a utility guy and work on certain things that could make me better overall?

Comment by Mark Lyman on July 21, 2012 at 2:37pm Play where ever your team needs you. If somebody asks you where you play, you say "I can really play any where." If somebody wants to know your primary position, you say the position you are most comfortable. But you dont need to have one position. If your coach needs you to play 2nd, you go give everything to be the best 2nd basemen. if your coach needs you to play the outfield, you play the best outfield you can. You don't need that one position where you always play. A good player can play anywhere on the field as if its the only position they play.

Comment by Derek Lange on July 21, 2012 at 12:15pm If I were you, I would drop catching. You don't really meet the size. Most colleges probably want a bigger catcher. Like you said I would probably would suit best at second. I would say choose second of the outfield.
