As an athlete, or a fan, or anyone who's ever been around sports; you've all seen how homophobic it can get. Honestly, I'm disgusted by it. I hate hearing someone called 'gay' or a 'fag' as an insult, or as a synonym for stupid.
That isn't right, and you know it. I may be one of the few to actually be open about my sexuality (Bisexual) and still play in such an environment. Baseball is constantly called 'gay' because of all the ass slapping and shit that goes on. I hate that, but what I hate even more is how we as a sport embrace it.
Not once have I heard a ball player stand up to a derogatory comment, if anything, it's embraced with open arms. Why are sports associated with sexuality in the first place. It's so irritating. I was straight up told I was a softball player for being something other than straight. It was agreed upon.
This is horrifying how we let it stand. I'm not saying you have to support the LGBT, or that you need to 'embrace the feminine side in you,' (yes, I know that was lame, but you got the point) I'm just saying don't associate something we love so much, with such hate.
